Walt Disney Animation Studios’ next feature film is fast approaching, or should we say, fast approaching, its theatrical release date. Nearly a decade after the original, Zootopia 2 arrives in theaters on November 26, 2025. But before the film’s release, Disney Animation and Walt Disney Imagineering are teaming up to celebrate another major milestone: an all-new theme park experience.
Opening November 7, 2025 at the Tree of Life Theater at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, Zootopia: a better Zoogether! is a cutting-edge 4D attraction that immerses visitors in the bustling, animal-filled metropolis, with animation from the same team as the film, paired with an all-new animatronic from Imagineering. This is not another Walt Disney; this time it’s Benjamin Clawhauser from the film.
The new show reunites much of the creative team and animation talent behind Zootopia 2 and even features the same vocal cast. Fans can also expect a few surprises, including a look at some of the new neighborhoods featured in the upcoming film.
Reflecting on her return to Judy Hopps, Goodwin shared, “It was amazing to honestly return to something so much later, like the fact that it’s been almost a decade.” » To prepare for the recording, she listened to rather than rewatched the first film “over and over again” to rediscover the voice and spirit of her character.
Goodwin added that working with Disney always brings a sense of creative freedom: “They want you to give it your all. »
In Zootopia 2Judy teams up once again with Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) on a mysterious new case – centering on a never-before-seen reptilian character. We asked Bush what we can expect next, and he said the new story would be relevant today, years ago, or in the future — “things that will always resonate, no matter the time or place.”
This recalls the first Zootopia story, which he says is actually about using animals “to look at human nature.”
Premiere of a new set before the film
Bush also highlighted the partnership between Animation Studios and Imagineering. Zootopia: a better Zoogether! not only does it seem like it’s part of the Zootopia universe, but it also features a setting from the sequel before it hits the big screen. The new Swamp Market area really comes to life in 4D, as the show can take you there with some water features.
“From the beginning, knowing that it was going to be a 4D attraction and that they had things that could splash you, we said we have this new environment for semi-aquatic animals,” Bush explained, noting that they shared their first glimpses with Imagineers. The fact that the timing was set two weeks in advance was “absolutely crazy.”
Bush explained that the animators used the same tools when working on the attraction as in the film, with the main adjustment being an added dimension for immersion. In our view of attraction, the art is fluid and looks identical to the art in the film.
The “Stereo Team” at Walt Disney Animation Studios – aka the 3D Team – traditionally works on the elements of 3D that appear in a typical movie theater, but for the 4D Theater at Disney Park, they went well beyond that.
Overall, it’s clear that Goodwin is excited to return to a beloved character and franchise, while Bush, one of the film’s original screenwriters and now head of Walt Disney Animation Studios, shares that enthusiasm – not just for the release of Zootopia 2but also for the unique partnership around an attraction which immerses visitors directly into the world of the film.
