Here’s everything we know so far Lioness season 3 from release date speculation, confirmed cast, plot rumors and more.
Full spoilers follow for Lioness seasons 1 and 2. Potential spoilers are also discussed for season 3.
Lioness season 3: is there a release date?
We don’t have any Lioness season 3 release date for now, but we do know that the series is officially back in production.
After an August 2025 renewal, the cast and crew clearly weren’t hanging around, which is great news considering there will be over a year between seasons, unlike the gap between 1 and 2. For a season 3 release date, then, I was predicting late 2026.
Lioness season 3: has a trailer been released?
With Lioness season 3 currently in production, there is no sign of a trailer yet. For the October 2024 season 2 release date, the trailer was released a month before. So if Season 3 comes out near the end of 2026, I imagine a trailer won’t appear until then as well.

Lioness season 3: story synopsis and rumors
Full spoilers follow for Lioness seasons 1 and 2. Potential spoilers for Lioness season 3.
There was a lot happens in Lioness season 2 as the team heads towards the final secret mission. Joe, Kaitlyn and Byron (reluctantly) enlist a new Lioness agent, Captain Josephina “Josie” Carrillo, to take down a Mexican drug cartel – led by her own uncle.
For what? Well, they were responsible, along with a Chinese official, for the murder of an American congresswoman’s husband and young son, as well as her own kidnapping.
And it all culminated in an explosive finale with lots of gunfire as Team Lioness tried to stop two Chinese nuclear scientists from entering a nuclear base in Iran. It’s a long story, but you can watch season 2 to find out the events in between.
Unfortunately, this end of the mission took a turn for the worse and it seemed, for a few sad moments, that Team Lioness was about to meet their maker. Until the sound of help arrives in the sky, led by Delta Force operator Cody Spears, aka series creator Taylor Sheridan. And somehow, everyone made it out alive.
At the end of it all, Joe returned to normal and was reunited with his loving husband and children, who were happily waiting with open arms, despite Joe’s fear that they were not.
So far, every season of Lioness followed a different mission – and while no plot details have been revealed for season 3, I predict the series will pivot into something entirely new. Unfortunately, there’s no information on the mission yet, but we’ll be sure to update here if a plot synopsis arrives.
Will there be more seasons of Lioness?
There is no news of a Lioness renewal of season 4, for now. It’s no surprise to learn that Season 3 wasn’t renewed until August 2025, approximately 10 months after Season 2 premiered on Paramount+.
But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the delay was “in order to accommodate the schedules of its star-filled cast.” So to find out if the stars can align for another season, we’ll have to wait and see.
The only positive hint Zoe Saldaña has given so far about upcoming seasons comes from an interview with Vanity Fair in which she revealed that she “signed up for at least three seasons.” Of course, there is no real question of a season 4, but we can hope for “at least”.
