EA shared an update on the upcoming Mass effect title as part of a blog post on N7 Day. This falls on November 7th each year and is essentially Mass effect Day. Generally, updates related to the series are shared, whether they are games or other projects.
Speaking in the latest N7 Day blog post, executive producer of Mass effect Mike Gamble reaffirms that the next Mass effect the game is still in development. The article then details what the team is focusing on:
“We have a lot of universe to cover, a lot of features to create, and a lot of romance to discover. We’re excited about what we’re building and we promise you: when we’re ready, it will be a lot of fun to show off.”
Although it was unlikely that it would be the opposite, the next Mass effect the game will obviously feature romance as a mechanic. This has been a staple of the series that has become a mainstay over the years, so it’s great to have confirmation that what comes next won’t be any different.

Another interesting tidbit revealed in the aforementioned blog post is that BioWare is now “focused exclusively on Mass effectHopefully this means fans won’t have to wait too long for the next iteration of the sci-fi RPG series. The latest mainline entry, Mass Effect: Andromedalaunched in 2017, so it’s been a while since we’ve been able to play in the series’ universe.
While we all wait for the new Mass effect game, there is a TV show in preparation, in partnership with Amazon:
“The series will explore an entirely new story in the universe’s timeline and take place after the original trilogy.”
