ISLAMABAD:
Supreme Court Puisne Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah also joked on Monday about the proposed Federal Constitutional Court, noting that if they were faced with a difficult question, they would refer it to the Federal Constitutional Court.
Justice Shah was hearing a case related to the promotion of Dr Azam Ali, an associate officer in the Punjab Animal Husbandry Department. The case was heard by a two-member bench comprising Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Aqeel Abbasi.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that his client was neglected during the promotion of junior officers. Justice Shah asked the lawyer to demonstrate through documents that junior officers were actually promoted while the petitioner was ignored.
The judge then joked: “If there is a very difficult question, we will refer it to the Federal Constitutional Court – we are just helpless people here anyway.” » The courtroom burst into laughter at his words. The Supreme Court subsequently rejected the petition.
Even before the approval of the 27th constitutional amendment, speculation began about where the Federal Constitutional Court, the creation of which is proposed as part of the amendment package, will be established.
On November 7, members of a five-member constitutional bench of the Supreme Court also made comments and exchanged interesting remarks regarding the draft amendment that the ruling PML-N will soon present in Parliament – without ever naming it.
The CB headed by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan was hearing a case related to civil service rules.
During the hearing, when Justice Khan asked if the case could be concluded that day, lawyer Faisal Siddiqi asked for the decision to be made quickly as he did not want to argue it in the Federal Sharia Court building, where the new court is expected to be set up.
