Diesel price expected to increase by Rs9 per liter

.

ISLAMABAD:

The price of diesel may increase by Rs 9.60 per liter depending on global price fluctuations from November 16, 2025. However, the price of petrol is expected to come down.

Prices of other petroleum products, such as kerosene and light diesel (LDO), are also expected to increase, as is diesel.

According to oil industry projections, the depot price of petrol (PMG) may fall by Rs 1.96 per liter to Rs 263.49, a decline of 0.7 per cent. The price of high speed diesel (HSD) is expected to increase by Rs 9.60 per liter to Rs 288.04, an increase of 3.4 per cent.

Similarly, kerosene price is expected to increase by Rs 8.82 to Rs 193.87, while LDO may increase by Rs 7.15 to Rs 171.13 per litre.

These prices also include premiums, with gasoline costing $5.10/barrel on import and HSD $3.20/barrel. The exchange rate remained unchanged, while Platts market data for the remaining two days will finalize the government’s decision.

The revised prices also reflect higher taxes, with consumers paying Rs 80.52 per liter in oil tax and carbon tax on petrol, and Rs 79.51 on HSD.

HSD is widely used in agriculture and transportation sectors. Therefore, the revision of its price will have a significant impact on consumers.

Gasoline is used in motorcycles and cars. It is also considered as an alternative to CNG in vehicles, especially in Punjab, where local gas is not available for CNG stations. Kerosene oil is mainly used in remote areas, especially in the north of the country, where LPG is not available for cooking.
