Prince Harry told the truth about the do’s and don’ts of a royal event

Prince Harry wasn’t allowed to be himself at a major sporting event, a former employee recalls.

The Duke of Sussex, who attended the World Darts Championship in 2014, said

Barry Hearn that he has no right to identify with a normal man.

Speaking about their time at Alexandra Paalce, Hearn said: “He had just come out of the army and he’s obviously a bit crazy, I think. He brought three friends with him. They were great fun.

“And at one point the crowd started chanting. The rules were pretty strict. We were only allowed to put his face on the big screens three times during the evening, just one flash.

He added: “So he was having a proper night out with his friends, having a few pints, having fun. And the crowd started chanting: ‘Harry, Harry, wave to us’. And he looked at me and I saw a bit of curiosity in his face – as if to say: ‘What should I do?’

“I looked at him and said, ‘If you stand up now and wave at these people, your credibility in the street is assured for life because you have identified with the normal man, with the people who make up the majority of this country.’ And he looked at me and said, ‘I don’t think I have the right to do that’… I found that quite sad,” the expert noted.
