Pakistan People’s Party has filed a no-confidence motion against Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and nominated Faisal Rathore for the post.

Senior PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said the party has the required member strength and is confident that it will form the government in AJK. Rathore belongs to Haveli district of Azad Kashmir and his father was associated with PPP.

The demand for a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Anwarul Haq was submitted with the signatures of the assembly members. The secretary of the meeting will deliver copies of the signed motion to the president and all members as soon as possible.

After the submission of the motion of censure, the secretary of the assembly is required to enter it in the business register within three to seven days. Once included on the list, the speaker of the assembly is constitutionally required, under Article 18, to set a date for the vote on the motion.

The meeting cannot be postponed until the vote has been taken, once the date of the vote has been set. However, if the no-confidence motion fails, another motion cannot be submitted for the next six months.
