Both sides express determination to strengthen existing military collaboration
RAWALPINDI:
Tajikistan Defense Minister Colonel General Sobirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim on Friday visited Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ).
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defense cooperation were discussed, said a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Both sides expressed their determination to strengthen existing military collaboration, particularly in the areas of training, counter-terrorism and regional security.
The visiting dignitary appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and acknowledged its role in promoting regional stability and peace.
The COAS, while emphasizing the importance of collective efforts for regional stability and prosperity, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defense and security ties with Tajikistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday, while calling Tajikistan a bridge to the heart of Central Asia, termed Pakistan a gateway to international waters as both states can play an important role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
The president made the remarks during a tour guided by Tajikistan’s Defense Minister Colonel General Sabirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim here in Aiwan-e-Sadr, according to a press release from the presidency.
