A new route has been announced for Karachi’s women-only pink bus service, connecting Abdullah Chowk to Numaish from November 17, 2025. Dedicated travel timings have also been fixed to make traveling safer and more convenient for women in the city.

Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the details on Saturday. He said the Pink Bus will be available at three specific times throughout the day, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In this service, dedicated exclusively to women, their comfort and safety during the journey will be given priority, Sharjeel said. He added that “this service will help reduce the difficulties women face during their daily commute in the greater city of Karachi.”

The buses will have security systems, tracking systems and trained staff, the minister noted, adding that the Sindh government plans to expand the service to other regions in the future.

Sharjeel said the government’s aim is to provide women with reliable and safe travel options, making it easier for them to pursue their education and careers.

“This is a significant step towards a safe urban environment for women, and the Sindh government will continue to take steps to provide such facilities to women in the future,” Sharjeel said.

Early last year, the government added 18 new buses to the pink fleet. Once operational, the service was an immediate success with women in the city.

With a fare set at Rs50 and girls under five years able to travel for free, the Pink Bus has added a much-needed travel option for women in Karachi.

The second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme is also expected to start soon, it was announced earlier this month. This initiative also aims to empower women in the city in their mobility and independence.
