Eddie Murphy didn’t mince his words about a deeply personal loss.
In his documentary, Being Eddie, the comedian explained how he felt when he didn’t win the Oscar for Dream girls.
As fans know, the actor was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2007, but lost to Alan Arkin.
Reflecting on the experience, he said it irritated him.
“Not winning the Oscar or not winning anything, that’s not shit for me. The shit for me is I get dressed up and I come, because usually I wouldn’t go to awards shows,” Murphy explained.
“It’s… every time I lose, I’m like, ‘Those b************ took me down to the end.’ I could have lost at home. I’m all in a fucking tuxedo. What a…waste of time. I never say to myself, “Oh, I didn’t win.” I’m like, ‘Hey, make me come here for nothing?'”
Despite the frustration, Murphy insisted he was still unfazed by the awards.
“It’s always wonderful to win stuff, but if I don’t win, I don’t care. I still come home, and it’s… I’m still Eddie in the morning.”
