- LinkedIn AI search lets you describe the person you want to find
- Premium users in the US get it first – global expansion soon
- Traditional research criticized for its ineffectiveness
LinkedIn is adding even more AI tools to the platform to help users find suitable matches within its search box.
With this change, LinkedIn users will be able to search for terms like “healthcare investors with experience with the FDA” or “who in my network can help me understand wireless networks.”
Previously, LinkedIn searches required users to enter exact job titles or use complex filtering, which meant many matches simply failed.
LinkedIn makes search more powerful…with AI, of course
Early tests already show that users are trying AI to find job leads, business opportunities, and career support, and overall the change isn’t much of a surprise.
Search features on other websites, including internet giant Google, already use AI to improve results, so LinkedIn would have missed something if it hadn’t added AI sooner or later.
But there is a catch. AI People Search is rolling out first to Premium users in the US, with global expansion planned for “the coming months”.
“If you didn’t know the right combination, the right person was yet to be discovered,” said Rohan Rajiv, senior director of product management. TechCrunch. “The new AI-powered people search is designed to be the fastest path to the person who can help you the most.”
The feature works by surfacing results ranked based on connections and relevance to the search query, with the aim of showing the most valuable people first. “Now, instead of static results, LinkedIn highlights people with the right expertise, at the right time, turning connections into actionable opportunities,” LinkedIn wrote in a blog post.
