- The next Xbox Developer Direct will take place this month
- There will be new views on Doom: Dark Ages And South of midnight
- Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33 and another game will also be broadcast
It’s time to mark your calendars again, head Xbox, because a new Developer Direct presentation has been announced for this month.
The official Xbox Wire post has all the details, locking in the Developer Direct showcase on January 23 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. GMT. As always, it will be broadcast at that time on official Xbox channels like YouTube.
Four games will be presented during this Xbox Developer Direct. The first is that of id Studios Doom: Dark Ages, an all-new prequel set before the opening events of the legendary demon-slaying first-person shooter series.
The next step is South of midnight by Compulsion Games. Xbox says this new look will be a “deep dive” into the upcoming action-adventure title. This is great news, because so far we’ve only seen very brief snippets of gameplay and teasers, and we still don’t know what the overall experience might actually look like.
The latest game confirmed for Xbox Developer Direct is from Sandfall Interactive. Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33, a highly anticipated AAA turn-based role-playing game with a stacked voice cast featuring Charlie Cox and Andy Serkis alongside Final Fantasy 16It is Ben Starr and Baldur’s Gate 3It is Jennifer English. This is one of my most anticipated releases this year and I can’t wait to see more.
Finally, the Developer Direct will travel to a “surprise location” to discover a mysterious “brand new game.” Of course, Xbox hasn’t revealed what this game is, but there are some notable Xbox Game Studios pioneers in FablePerfect dark, And Gears of War: E-Day.
If I were a gambler, I would bet on this being Fable. Based on its most recent trailer, we know it’s slated for a “2025” release window. That said, we haven’t seen much in terms of gameplay. As such, this Developer Direct is an opportune time to throw open the doors to the return of one of Xbox’s most beloved franchises.
