Punk, a world heavyweight champion and unabashed Chicago sports fan, verbally insulted upset Giants fans in an interview on “Barstool Yak” Wednesday.
“I mean, life isn’t fair, but I think they’re just stupid Giants fans,” Punk said. “Like, you want to alienate him again? So he doesn’t want to play for your shitty franchise. Yeah, I said it.
“I don’t know the politics of the Giants and their fans and everything else, but this seems ridiculous to me. Celebrities and sports stars have been dabbling in professional wrestling since the dawn of time, so I don’t understand why you’re mad. This guy came out with a broken leg – he broke his leg for you playing for your football Giants, and now you’re going to try to be mad at him for what? I don’t understand.”

Skattebo suffered a season-ending ankle injury. He was sitting ringside with some of his Giants teammates, including rookie Abdul Carter, when the segment occurred.

“If he did a somersault off the top rope and re-injured himself or did something that prevented his recovery, I understand, but he didn’t do any of that.”
Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka had no problem with Skattebo’s viral moment either. He said he had no concerns about Skattebo’s safety.
“I knew they were going to the event. It was a beginner’s event,” Kafka said. “We have team events that our support teams do for the rookies to get out there. So, I thought that was a good thing. I know it was like a little organized brawl there.

“It was great to see Skatt pregame, on the sidelines. His drive, his energy, you can feel it. I can feel it through the TV and on my phone when I was watching the clips. So, it’s a cool event for these guys to get out and be in the community.”
