Pakistan signs MoU with friendly country for purchase of JF-17 Thunder

Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder Block-III took center stage at the Dubai Airshow, marking another milestone after the country signed a memorandum of understanding with a friendly country for the purchase of aircraft, the military’s media wing said.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the JF-17 Block-III became the focal point of the event, attracting keen interest from defense analysts, aviation specialists and visitors.

“Its advanced technology, strong combat capabilities and proven operational performance at Marka-e-Haq have enhanced its reputation as a highly capable and cost-effective multi-role combat aircraft,” the ISPR said.

The statement added that growing international confidence in Pakistan’s aviation industry is evident with many countries expressing interest in acquiring the JF-17 Thunder.

“In a remarkable development, a memorandum of understanding has been signed with a friendly country for the purchase of the JF-17 Thunder, marking another important milestone in the expansion of Pakistan’s defense and industrial partnerships,” he said.

On the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2025, Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, held a series of high-level engagements with the Air Chiefs of friendly countries.

He also met with Lieutenant General Pilot Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi, Undersecretary of Defense of the UAE, and Major General Rashid Mohammed Al-Shamsi, Commander of the UAE Air Force and Air Defense.

“Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in advanced training, promoting collaboration in emerging aerospace technologies and improving mechanisms for effective operational coordination,” the ISPR said.

The UAE military leadership welcomed the Pakistan Air Force’s modernization drive and the development of local capabilities, expressing a shared commitment to deepening defense cooperation through joint exercises, professional exchanges and forward-looking partnerships.

A Pakistan Air Force contingent has also arrived in the UAE to participate in the Dubai Airshow 2025. The contingent includes the advanced JF-17 Thunder Block-III and the famous Super Mushshak trainer aircraft, highlighting Pakistan’s growing expertise in local military aviation.
