ISLAMABAD:

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development on Thursday reviewed the implementation of its earlier directives and received feedback on the progress made by the ministry, the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE), FIA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

The body urged authorities to open new Protector offices and complete the digitalization process of E-Protector.

The meeting was chaired by MP Syed Rafiullah, according to a statement.

Regarding the protectors’ offices, the acting secretary confirmed that approvals are underway but acknowledged budgetary constraints and logistical delays.

The committee clarified that such constraints cannot justify further delays and recommended that the new offices be made operational during the current financial year.

The committee further recommended that Protector services should be closely integrated with NADRA and other e-government platforms to ensure identity verification and reduce dependence on intermediaries.
