ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry on Friday approved the deployment of Pakistan Army and civilian armed forces for the by-elections scheduled for November 23.

In its order, the ministry said the deployment was approved at the request of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Civilian armed forces will be deployed as second-tier responders, with reserve force/quick reaction force status only, the ministry added.

The Pakistan Army will be deployed as “third level responders (in situ rapid reaction force mode)”.

The Interior Ministry said the deployment of armed forces was aimed at supporting the ECP to ensure the “peaceful conduct of the by-elections to be held on November 23, 2025.”
