Meghan Markle has been harshly criticized by a royal expert for her latest use of a title in a semi-formal setting.
Harper’s Bazaar interviewed the Duchess of Sussex for the cover of their December 2025/January 2026 Art Issue.
The magazine’s Kaitlyn Greenidge wrote about how she met Meghan for the interview and revealed that Meghan’s title was announced when she came.
“We are in a large brownstone on the Upper East Side that is owned by one of Meghan’s friends. When I walk in, the house manager announces ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,’ even though we appear to be the only two other people in the house,” she wrote.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield slammed the mother-of-two on her YouTube show, Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, saying: “What an idiot you look like as a woman. This whole article, she’s kissing Meghan’s butt. But if I was on Meghan’s team, I would hate for that to stay in. I would have asked if it could be taken out. I thought they had that kind of power, but it’s one of the worst depictions in the article.”
Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals in 2020 and moved to America. They retained their titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the condition that they not use them for commercial purposes.
