Lily Allen is preparing to hit the road again and this tour apparently marks a major personal milestone for her.
In a new interview on CBS MorningsThe 40-year-old pop star reflects on preparing to tour her latest album West End Girl as this would be her first time traveling and performing since getting sober in 2019.
The project itself was reportedly inspired by the end of her marriage to actor David Harbour, but the tour represents something more significant than that.
Speaking to Anthony Mason, Allen admitted that performing in your 20s felt like “one big party”, often blurring the line between performing and lifestyle.
“I don’t know if it sounded very amusing to the people listening to it,” said the Tennis the artist laughed.
“It sure was fun, you know, going there, but I’m not at that stage in my life.”
Allen explained that when she got sober in 2019, she imagined it would eventually allow her to bring West End Girl “to life”, but she didn’t expect the gap between tours to extend so long.
Now, as she prepares to perform live again, she admits the nerves are real.
“I’m nervous,” the singer admitted.
“I don’t think there’s any risk of anything happening, but it’s a real adrenaline rush that you get when you’re on stage and people are reacting to your words and when you leave the stage, the adrenaline rushes through your body and looks for a place to come out.”
