John O’Hurley recently got candid and talked about his family’s special Thanksgiving traditions.
The 71-year-old American actor and game show host, who has hosted The National Dog Show since 2002, broadcast every Thanksgiving Day on NBC, in conversation with PEOPLE magazine and revealed how this special occasion is celebrated in her family.
O’Hurley said Thanksgiving Day is filled with family gatherings, delicious food and, above all, dogs. The O’Hurley family has its own personal traditions, separate from the competition recorded before the big day.
He said, “I’ve spent every Thanksgiving in New York and I go to a specific Italian restaurant. We have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, traditional or Italian.”
THE Seinfeld The star then shared that her family made sure to be part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade which is broadcast before National Dog Show every year.
He explained, “We’re still at the start of the Macy’s parade. It’s historic in our family and has been a tradition since my son was born. He’ll be 19 this year.”
“There were several years where we didn’t have him. He grew up in the show. He grew up at the start of the parade every year. It’s always been a wonderful tradition,” noted John O’Hurley.
