King Charles has decided to spiritually warm the nation with a brand new royal whiskey arriving just in time for the festive season.
The King unveiled Highgrove Evergreen English single malt whisky, a £100 bottle of royal joy made from barley grown on his own Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire.
He’s gone from ruler to spirit creator, and fans are already lining up to pre-order ahead of his official release on December 4.
Highgrove described the new drink with appropriately poetic flair, calling it “a collaboration between Highgrove Gardens and Cotswolds Distillery, designed to honor the tradition of English single malt.”
And this batch is made from Plumage Archer, grown right on the royal grounds.
The whiskey matures in a duo of bourbon and STR red wine barrels, creating what the estate promises to be “a rich, refined spirit layered with orchard fruit, honeyed malt and subtle notes of red fruit and spice.”
Its new single malt doesn’t arrive alone; he comes dressed to impress in “a beautifully illustrated gift box,” adorned with artwork painted by the king himself.
Inside, the 46 percent alcohol promises a royal tasting of honey and orchard fruits, followed by whispers of red fruits, toasted oak and sweet spices.
The Balmoral version is made at the Royal Lochnagar distillery, just a mile from the castle.
King Charles’ penchant for a good festive drink dates back to December 2023, when he was spotted at Highgrove House enjoying mulled wine and mingling with Christmas carolers like a man deep in his seasonal element.
