The graphic that accompanied the ad featured Copper, Plum and Young. These three players were on Team USA when they won gold at the Paris Olympics.
Women’s basketball fans were quick to wonder why Clark was left off the promotional material graphic, given that she is one of the most popular players in women’s basketball.

Columnist Christine Brennan, who wrote a book about Clark, was among those questioning USA Basketball’s decision.
Clark did not play for Team USA during the Olympics, which was also a source of consternation among fans. She won a gold medal playing for the United States in junior competitions before turning professional and being drafted by the Indiana Fever.
She also missed significant time in her second WNBA season due to injuries.
U.S. women’s national team director Sue Bird is expected to evaluate the players before making the final decision on the roster for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, which will take place next September.

Gray, Griner and Hamby were also on the U.S. Olympic team last year. Jones has FIBA Basketball World Cup experience, while Boston has represented the red, white and blue in previous junior and senior events.
