LAHORE:
Another petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court, challenging the 27th constitutional amendment, strengthening the growing legal opposition to the controversial amendment.
Citizen Asbah Kamran submitted the constitutional petition, naming the President of Pakistan, Parliament and Senate as respondents through their respective secretaries.
In the petition, the petitioner argues that the 27th Amendment is inconsistent with the fundamental principles of Islam. It asserts that once the Constitution is in force, neither Parliament nor the Senate can legislate in a manner contrary to Islamic principles.
