Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has dismissed reports that the federal government was preparing to impose governor’s rule in the province, saying he had not been consulted on the issue.

“I hear from the media that the governor’s regime is imposed. As of today, I maintain that for now there is no talk of the governor’s regime,” Faisal Karim Kundi said while speaking to reporters in Peshawar on Sunday.

The governor confirmed that although the Constitution has a clause to impose the power of the governor, no official communication has been made with him so far. “The Constitution has a provision for governor’s rule, but no one has told me about it,” he said.

Kundi added that the current situation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) did not allow for widespread protests, given the fragile security and administrative challenges.

“I believe that the conditions in our province do not allow protests. The province is already burdened with problems, including public order,” he said.
