- The OnePlus 15R will have a massive 8,300 mAh battery
- Expect a cheaper, scaled-down version of the OnePlus 15
- The phone will launch on December 17
You can see in our review of the OnePlus 15 that we were very impressed with the latest OnePlus handset, giving it a rare five out of five stars, and now there’s a rumor that the brand’s next phone will raise the bar when it comes to battery capacity.
According to Li Jie Louis, head of OnePlus on Weibo (via Android Authority), the OnePlus 15R (known as OnePlus Ace 6T in China) will feature a massive battery with a capacity of 8,300 mAh, which should ensure enough time between charges.
That’s even more than the OnePlus 15’s 7,300mAh battery capacity, and it also beats most other smartphones on the market. Handsets that go higher tend to be ultra-large, rugged devices intended for outdoor and remote use.
Not only that, but the OnePlus 15R will come with 100W charging, according to OnePlus. That’s not as high as the 120W you get with the OnePlus 15, but it should still mean the phone can be charged very quickly.
Previous OnePlus variants
OnePlus hasn’t always been consistent in its phone variants, but last time around we had both the OnePlus 13R and OnePlus 13T as more affordable companions to the OnePlus 13 for those who wanted to spend a little less.
The R and T options generally reduce a few features to achieve this cheaper price, while the T version also tends to be smaller. International availability of these phones has always been limited, although the OnePlus 13R has launched globally.
It looks like the OnePlus 15R will also be sold outside of China, although we’re still waiting for details. We know it will launch on Wednesday, December 17, with a high level of waterproofing and dust protection.
OnePlus started teasing the phone earlier this month and is expected to be around the same price as the OnePlus 13R: $599 / £679 (you can’t get these phones in Australia). Of course, we will let you know as soon as we have all the details.
