Sindh asks private schools not to collect advance fees

The Sindh Education Department has asked private schools not to collect additional fees from students in advance. In this regard, the Directorate of Inspection and Private Institutions has issued a notification, Express News reported.

In order to ease the financial burden on parents and students, it has been decided that tuition fees for students enrolled in the baccalaureate should only be collected for the month of April.

Refia Javed, Additional Director of Registration of Private Institutions, addressed all private schools, stating that a circular was issued by the Directorate on December 23, 2024, which included the decisions related to the annual examinations of 9th and 10th grade and the new academic session.

In line with these decisions, instructions have been issued to ensure that schools only charge tuition fees for the month of April to students appearing for the 2025 final exams, since their exams will be held in March.

Additionally, students in grades K-9, as well as those graduating from grades 9-10 in 2025, are expected to receive vouchers in April for June and July tuition, which will be due in June and July .

All private schools are requested to strictly adhere to these guidelines. Legal action will be taken against any school that violates these instructions.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Education Department announced that schools in the province will reopen on January 1, 2025 (Wednesday), after the winter vacation.

A statement issued by the department confirmed that all educational institutions in Sindh have resumed normal operations from Wednesday.

Winter vacation in Sindh schools lasted from December 21 to 31, as previously declared by the Ministry of Education.

Meanwhile, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir education department has extended the winter vacation due to the extreme weather conditions.

According to Express News, a notification was issued extending the holiday till January 4, 2025. The extension applied to public and private educational institutions in the region.
