AWS CEO Matt Garman said AI agents will be bigger than the Internet or cloud computing.
Speaking during his keynote speech at AWS re:Invent 2025, Garman outlined his views on what AI can do for businesses of all sizes, across all industries.
And with such a level of interest and investment, it’s perhaps no surprise that AI agents took center stage for AWS at its biggest event of the year.
Bigger than the Internet
“The world isn’t slowing down – in fact, if there’s one thing we can all count on, it’s that more change is coming – and one of the biggest opportunities, which will change everyone’s business, is agents,” Garman said.
“Right now, we’re seeing an explosion of events in AI – every customer experience, every business – frankly every industry, is being reinvented.
“We’re still in the early days of what AI will deliver, and the technology is evolving faster than anything we’ve ever seen before.”
“It wasn’t that long ago that we were all testing and experimenting with chatbots, and now it seems like there’s something new every day.”
With a range of new products spanning the AI gamut, Garman was keen to feature customer testimonials from Adobe and Sony, showing the range of potential benefits on offer.
“(I believe) the true value of AI has not yet been revealed,” he added. “I believe the advent of AI agents has brought us to an inflection point in the trajectory of AI: it is moving from a technical marvel to something that brings us real value.”
“This change will impact your business as much as the Internet or the cloud. I believe in the future there will be billions of agents within every company, in every industry.”
