On behalf of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, a petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court seeking permission to undergo monthly medical tests and examinations at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital.

The petition was submitted through Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. It asks the court to issue directions allowing the former prime minister to undergo regular medical check-ups at Shaukat Khanum, “in accordance with his medical history and current state of health”.

The petition names Secretary of Punjab Home Department, Inspector General of Prisons, Superintendent of Adiala Prison, Medical Superintendent and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital as respondents.

The petitioner requested the court to order that medical teams have full access to the PTI founder and that monthly examination reports be shared with his family and the court.

The plea said the PTI founder, former prime minister, is facing “certain medical problems” and requires specialized treatment. He also alleges that he was convicted “on the instructions of the current government as part of political victimization.”

It further states that to ensure fairness and adequate treatment, the former prime minister “should be provided with improved medical facilities, the best being Shaukat Khanum Hospital”.
