LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court has been approached to challenge the order issued allowing kite flying in Punjab.
The petition was filed by lawyer Azhar Siddique, chairman of the Judicial Activism Panel, an NGO.
According to the petitioner, the kite flying ordinance was issued on the instructions of Nawaz Sharif and is in conflict with the Constitution.
The petition contends that granting permission for Basant poses a serious threat to human life, as past festivals have resulted in many casualties. The petitioner asked the court to suspend the implementation of the ordinance until the legislation is passed by the provincial assembly.
