NYT Connections today (game #908) – the answers
The answers to today’s Connections game #908 are…
- YELLOW: DELICATE COMPLEX, DELICATE, STICKY, HARD
- GREEN: STATE OF BUSINESS CASE, SITUATION, STATUS, HISTORY
- BLUE: CLASSIC BOARD GAMES MASTERMIND, MOUSE TRAP, OPERATION, SORRY
- PURPLE: ____TALK BABY, PILLOW, SMALL, SOFT
- My rating: Easy
- My rating: Perfect
SWEET and STICKY aside, there were no real crossovers today, although I thought the yellow group’s theme was different types of situations rather than TRICKY.
Strictly speaking, MASTERMIND is not a classic board game as it does not come with a board – despite being a member of the same pre-video game heritage.
If you’ve never played it, it’s highly recommended; It’s a game that breaks color codes and instead of a board and pawns, it comes with dozens of little black and white pins that you’ll inevitably slowly lose over time. At least that’s what happened to our set, which ended up including a few homemade stakes alongside the ones that came with it.
Anyway, I digress. I was also excited to have the purple group today, although I think it’s clear that I’d rather engage in classic board game conversation than BABY, PILLOW, SMALL, or SOFT conversation.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Connections (Thursday Dec 4, Thu #907)

- GREEN: IMBIBRATE YOURSELF GUZZLE, REINFORCEMENT, LAY, SWILL

- PURPLE: muzzles BECK, SNOUT, PROBOSCIS, ROSTER
What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four elements that share something in common, and each group has a different difficulty level: green is easy, yellow is a little more difficult, blue is often quite difficult, and purple is usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you technically don’t need to solve the final question, as you will be able to answer it through a process of elimination. Additionally, you can make up to four mistakes, giving you some breathing room.
However, it’s a bit more complex than something like Wordle, and the game provides plenty of opportunities to trip you up with tricks. For example, watch out for homophones and other puns that could obscure the answers.
It is playable for free via the NYT Games website on computer or mobile.
