Kim Kardashian recently made a major revelation about her original name.
THE Everything is fair the actress opened up about a last-minute name change before entering the family’s reality TV show, Klistening to the Kardashiansin 2007.
“My name was always Kimberly, until we signed on to do the reality show,” the 45-year-old said in a new interview with Time.
Explaining why she made this decision, Kim saw her name, Kimberly Kardashian, and realized it was too long.
“I said, ‘I think that’s too much for people to say.’ And like, “Let’s shorten it to Kim,” the American Horror Story actress.
Kim remembers that all of her high school friends and her dad called her “Kimberly,” so it was “weird” to change my name.
However, the SKIMS founder gave credit to her sisters for starting the show to promote their Los Angeles clothing store, DASH.
“The only reason we wanted to start our show was to bring attention to our DASH store, at least that’s how I was able to convince my sisters to sign up,” Kim pointed out.
Elsewhere in the interview, the reality star revealed whether she was “the mastermind” behind the Kardashian empire.
“I was the one who convinced everyone, that’s for sure. I really wanted it,” she told the outlet.
Kim added: “I really wanted to do a reality show since the day MTV aired The real world came out and I watched it with my best friend.
