Islamabad has rejected Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s “highly inflammatory, baseless and irresponsible” remarks against the Pakistan Army, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
According to Indian media, Jaishankar claimed that many of Delhi’s problems with Islamabad “emanated from the Pakistani army.” “The ideological hostility towards India comes from the Pakistani army,” said the Indian foreign minister in an interview with NDTV.
In a rebuttal, FO spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan remained a responsible state, saying all national institutions – including the armed forces – were committed to protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Pakistan is a responsible state and all its institutions, including its armed forces, constitute a pillar of national security, dedicated to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country,” Andrabi added.
He said the May 2025 conflict demonstrated the professionalism and determination of the Pakistan Army in the fight against Indian aggression.
“The May 2025 conflict clearly demonstrated the professionalism of the Pakistani armed forces as well as their determination to defend the Pakistani homeland and people against any Indian aggression in a dignified, effective and responsible manner,” the statement said.
“No propaganda can deny this truth.”
The spokesperson said attempts by Indian leaders to defame Pakistani state institutions and its leaders are part of a propaganda campaign aimed at diverting attention from New Delhi’s destabilizing actions in the region and beyond, as well as state terrorism in Pakistan.
“Such inflammatory rhetoric only illustrates the extent of India’s disregard for friendship, peace and stability in our region.”
Andrabi added that instead of making misleading remarks about Pakistan’s armed forces, India must investigate the fascist and revisionist Hindutva ideology that has unleashed a reign of mob justice, lynchings, arbitrary detentions and demolition of properties and places of worship.
“Both the Indian state and rulers have become hostages of this terror in the name of religion.”
Despite the tensions, Andrabi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to “coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy”, while asserting that the country remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and national interests.
