Alabama’s College Football Playoff entry draws criticism from broadcaster

Former NBC host Chuck Todd tore into the College Football Playoff committee Sunday as the Alabama Crimson Tide advanced to the playoffs despite three losses this year.

Alabama lost to the Georgia Bulldogs 28-7 in the SEC Championship and suffered two other losses to the Florida State Seminoles and the Oklahoma Sooners. Alabama beat Georgia by three points to start the season.

With the Crimson Tide receiving the 9th seed in the College Football Playoff, Todd expressed his frustration with officials over the decision.

“Wow. Bama not moving? What a corrupt cmte joke,” he wrote in an article on X. “It doesn’t matter who gets 10th place.”

Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer believed in his team’s resume to make the College Football Playoff, regardless of what the pundits said.

“When it’s not in your control, there are always moments of anxiety,” he said Sunday via AL.com. “I feel really good about what we accomplished throughout the season. You just trust that resume, if you want to call it that, that’s what’s going to provide the information necessary to help you make that type of decision.”

Alabama will face Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

The Crimson Tide were higher seeded than the Miami Hurricanes, who were narrowly placed on the field against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Todd, a Miami native, was excited for the Hurricanes to take the field.
