ISLAMABAD:
Cricket remains the most dominant entertainment topic in Pakistan, while local television series have also become a major focus of public interest, according to a Google report released on Monday.
The report, titled “Year in Search 2025,” offers a picture of what captivated Pakistani users online throughout the year, ranging from sports and entertainment to governance, education and real-world crises.
According to the report, Pakistanis are increasingly relying on Google Search to access timely information on pressing daily issues, including an increase in searches related to flooding in Karachi and increased flood risks near the Chenab River.
Users actively searched for information on government initiatives such as the Punjab Socio-Economic Register, ‘Asaan Karobar Card’ and Ministerial Youth Laptop Program 2025.
Similarly, educational updates, including results and advisories from the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and other examination bodies, were among the most searched topics.
Searches on gold prices and international developments, especially news related to Iran, also featured prominently as Pakistanis sought to stay informed about global and economic developments.
Additionally, Pakistani users have heavily turned to local drama series for entertainment, with storylines and performances closely followed throughout the year.
