Super Bowl LIX featured two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, and it wasn’t the first time the two teams met for a shot at a championship.

Ten months later, Mahomes and Hurts find themselves in a difficult situation. The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves out of playoff contention with four weeks remaining in the regular season. The Philadelphia Eagles have lost three straight games and have failed to score more than 21 points in their last five games.

Mahomes and Hurts’ performances in Week 14 were also less than ideal.

The Chiefs star was 14 of 33 for 160 yards and threw three interceptions as they fell to the Houston Texans, 20-10, to fall to 6-7.

He lamented the team’s inability to execute at the most opportune times.

“We had chances,” Mahomes said after the game, “and we didn’t execute on them.”

The Eagles star went 21 of 40 for 240 yards with four interceptions and a lost fumble. Two of the five turnovers came on one play. Philadelphia fell to 8-5. While the team still leads the NFC East, the Eagles seem far from the Super Bowl champions they were in February.

“We lost the game,” Hurts said, “and I didn’t play well enough to help us win the game.”

With last year’s two best teams battling it out at a crucial point in the season, the path to Super Bowl LX is a free-for-all. The Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks are the only teams with at least 10 wins.
