An ICC delegation is expected to visit the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday to assess the ongoing preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The visit is part of the second phase of their Pakistan tour aimed at reviewing tournament arrangements, Express News reported.
The six-member team will inspect the construction and renovation works of the stadium.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director Usman Wahla, Director of International Cricket, along with other officials, will brief the delegation on the progress made.
Rawalpindi is scheduled to host three matches during the Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19.
These include Bangladesh vs New Zealand on February 24, Australia vs South Africa on February 25 and Pakistan vs Bangladesh on February 27.
In the final phase of their visit, the ICC delegation will travel to Lahore to assess the facilities and ongoing improvements at the Gaddafi Stadium. Earlier this week, the team visited the National Stadium in Karachi.
This is the ICC’s fourth inspection visit to Pakistan ahead of the much-anticipated tournament.
Yesterday, an ICC delegation visited the National Bank Stadium in Karachi to assess the preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The six-member team, which included ICC officials, broadcasters and logistics staff, carefully reviewed the venue’s readiness for the tournament. The visit was aimed at ensuring all necessary facilities are in place before the tournament’s scheduled start on February 19.
Usman Wahla provided a detailed briefing on the development works currently underway at the stadium.
The deadline to complete the required improvements to National Bank Stadium is January 25, allowing ample time for final preparations before the start of the Champions Trophy.
The tournament, which will feature eight teams competing in 15 matches, will take place from February 19 to March 9 across three venues in Pakistan: Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, as well as in Dubai.
The eight teams are divided into two groups: Group A includes Pakistan, India, New Zealand and Bangladesh, while Group B includes Afghanistan, South Africa, England and Australia.
Pakistan will face New Zealand in the opening match on February 19 in Karachi, and the much-anticipated clash between arch rivals Pakistan and India will take place on February 23 in Dubai.
