Prince Harry suffers legal setback amid UK Home Office security review

Prince Harry was just beginning to sigh with relief after receiving good news from the United Kingdom when he received a serious warning about his legal proceedings.

The Duke of Sussex’s security protocol is finally being scrutinized by the UK Home Office for the first time in six years following his exit from the royal family. Police protection has just been one of the legal cases Harry is fighting against, he is also suing British tabloids for illegally extracting information for their articles.

On Tuesday, Harry and six other high-profile plaintiffs received a stark warning from judges about the major financial implications if the case does not succeed. They were involved in a £38 million privacy case against DailyMail and were told of the “consequences” of the case in a judgment by Mr Justice David Cook and Mr Justice Nicklin, according to the Telegraph report.

The seven claimants were given “the clearest possible understanding” and could collectively face costs of £14.1 million if they lose the case to Associated Newspapers.

“Whether this means individual applicants need to reassess their ATE [after the event insurance] coverage, this can only be in their own interest,” the judgment states.

“It is particularly important that this issue is addressed at this stage, as substantial costs have already been incurred and the parties will soon incur even greater costs in preparing for next year’s trial. »

While the verdict on police protection is expected to be handed down next month, the case against the DailyMail editors will also go to trial around the same time.
