Sindh Chief Minister Sharjeel Memon announced the launch of phase two of the electric scooter (EV scooter) distribution programme, marking a significant breakthrough.
This initiative is part of the Sindh government’s broader plan to improve eco-friendly mobility options and empower women through better access to transport.

A meeting chaired by the Sindh Minister was held in the presence of Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) Managing Director Kanwal Nizam Bhutto and other concerned officials. He focused on ongoing and upcoming transport projects in the province, including discussions on improving mobility infrastructure in Karachi and other cities.
The first wave of distribution would have given around 200 free pink electric scooters to women, while the plan, as approved by the cabinet, called for distributing up to 1,000 scooters to women.
On November 4, 2025, the government announced the launch of the second phase, signaling that new registrations would open soon.
The second phase will provide modern, environmentally friendly transportation options to a large number of women. The scooters were designed to provide a safer, more accessible alternative to traditional transportation, especially in a city where traffic jams and limited public transportation options often hinder women’s mobility. This initiative also contributes to the city’s green transportation movement.
In addition to the Pink Scooters, Memon also announced that new electric buses have arrived in Karachi and will soon be deployed on different routes across the city. These buses are expected to ease the transportation burden on city residents and help reduce pollution. The government has completed designs for four new roads in Khairpur, Shikarpur and Hyderabad, and plans to make these roads functional within this month.
He added that the government plans to introduce more double-decker buses on the city’s main highways to ease traffic jams.
Along with these planned improvements, Memon highlighted that new initiatives, such as EV buses, EV scooters and EV taxi services, will usher Karachi and other cities into a new era of urban mobility. He reiterated that these projects are directly linked to public utility and will be completed within the stipulated time frame.
Here’s how to apply for the Pink Scooty program. Eligible candidates must be permanent residents of Sindh, hold a valid motorcycle or car driving license and be either enrolled in an educational institution or employed.
