- Adobe will remove its cheaper 20GB storage tier for Creative Cloud
- The move takes effect January 15, 2025
- This is intended to encourage users to migrate to more expensive annual subscriptions.
The Adobe Creative Cloud Photography 20GB plan is designed for amateur and professional photo editors, providing low-cost access to industry-standard tools Photoshop and Lightroom.
However, starting January 15, 2025, Adobe will phase out this popular plan, and according to our previous report, existing users will still be able to keep their subscriptions, albeit at a higher cost.
In the United States, the 20 GB plan will increase from $9.99 to $14.99 per month for existing users; an increase of 50%. The 1TB plan for Photoshop and Lightroom remains unchanged at $19.99 per month. The 1TB only Lightroom plan goes from $9.99 to $11.99 per month, a 20% increase.
Significant (cost increase) in Japan
Recent reports out of Japan (originally published in Japanese) reveal that the 20GB Photography and Lightroom plan will get similar treatment there.
Currently priced at 1,180 yen per month, the monthly plan will increase to 1,780 yen upon renewal after January 15, 2025.
As in the United States, any user who does not subscribe to the 20 GB package before January 15 will no longer be able to do so.
The report also claims that the annual lump sum payment option, costing 14,080 yen (or approximately 1,173 yen per month), will remain available and will not be affected by the price increase.
Additionally, Adobe will provide a prorated refund for any remaining period of the monthly plan for those who upgrade to the annual option.
