The motorway police intervene quickly, regulate traffic and prevent new accidents
An oil tanker overturned near Nooriabad, Karachi, on the M-9 highway, disrupting traffic on Friday morning. The accident caused a major oil spill, causing heavy delays in both directions.
The oil spill made the road slippery, resulting in a significant reduction in vehicle speeds. The lane has been fully restored for traffic by the National Highways and Highways Police South Zone (NHMP).
According to the spokesperson, no casualties or injuries were reported during the incident.
After receiving information, the National Roads and Motorways Police arrived on the scene. Police regulated traffic, diverting vehicles safely.

According to rescue authorities, the overturned tanker has been righted using heavy machinery, and efforts to clean up the spilled oil continue. Officers spread dirt over the spilled oil to absorb it and dry the road.
The Motorway Police spokesperson said that traffic flow near Nooriabad has now been fully restored and they are always ready to deal with any emergency.
In December 2024, a trailer hit an oil tanker from behind on the Native Jetty Bridge. As a result, the oil in the tanker spilled, making the road dangerously slippery. Traffic police and other law enforcement units arrived at the scene and closed the road to all vehicle traffic.
