Creature Commandos season 2 was announced on December 23, 2024. As we reported at the time, Max confirmed that a new season of DC Studios’ first animated series was in the works, so we’ll definitely be getting more action animated for adults at some point.
We don’t expect to see Creature Commandos However, let’s return to our screens soon. There are many other DC Studios projects in various stages of development, including but not limited to James Gunn’s. Superman movie, Lanterns, Peacemaker season 2, and Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow. Gunn, one of the co-heads of DC Studios, is involved in two of these projects, so it will be in August – the month Peacemaker 2 should make his debut – before he is free to write the scripts for Creature Commandos‘ next entry. Gunn wrote the scripts for his predecessor, so I believe he will also be responsible for writing Season 2.
Provided he doesn’t hire a new head scribe for the next chapter of the series, I’d be surprised if the scripts for Season 2 are ready before the end of 2025. If that’s the case, Creature Commandos Season 2 may not arrive until late 2026 – and that’s why I’m incredibly optimistic. Animated shows can take years to make, so it could even be 2027 or even 2028 before they’re released.
Creature Commandos Season 2 Likely Cast
Major spoilers follow for Creature Commandos season 1.
The cast of Creature Commandos Season 2 hasn’t been announced yet but, based on last season’s finale, here’s who I would expect to return:
- Indira Varma as the bride
- Sean Gunn as GI Robot and Weasel
- Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus
- David Harbor as Eric Frankenstein
- Viola Davis as Amanda Waller
- Steve Agee as John Economos
The four characters voiced by the first three actors were the only remaining members of the original Task Force M lineup after the end credits of Season 1 Episode 7 rolled. As I mentioned in my Creature Commando season 1 article explained end, they are still part of the starting team heading into next season, so I would expect Varma, Tudyk, and Gunn to reprise their roles in season 2.
Harbour’s Frankenstein, who is not part of the group but played a major antagonistic role in Season 1, is also expected to return. Davis’ Waller and Agee’s Economos could do the same, especially since Task Force M reports directly to the ARGUS commander-in-chief and his right-hand man.
The season 1 finale also revealed that three new metahumans had joined the ranks of Task Force M. The vampire bat humanoid Nosferata, the mummified Khalis (confirmed by Gunn in a Rotten Tomatoes YouTube video), and King Shark – last seen in 2021 The suicide squid film – will be part of the line-up for next season. It is unclear which actors will voice them, but the end credits sequence for episode 7 of season 1 indicated Diedrich Bader (American housewife, Napoleon Dynamite) as the voice of King Shark, so I think he’ll do it again in season 2.
Other figures who featured last season, like Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr, could also take part in the proceedings. As Grillo told TechRadar, he will be “on a mission” for justice in Superman And Peacemaker but season 2 first.
However, Circe and/or many of Pokolistan’s minor characters, including Sergei, are unlikely to return. They were only involved due to how the story unfolded in Season 1. With this storyline finished before the end of Season 1, I’m confident they won’t be seen in the second outing of the series. of Max’s best shows.
Two people who definitely won’t be coming back for another monster mash are Zoe Chao’s Nina Mazursky and Maria Bakalova’s Princess Ilana Rostikov. Ilana murdered Nina in the season 1 finale, then was killed by The Bride in retaliation for Nina’s execution by the Pokolistani monarch-in-waiting. For what it’s worth, Bakalova told TechRadar that she hasn’t given up hope of playing Ilana again. Unless she appears in a flashback sequence, I seriously doubt she will.
Creature Commandos Season 2 Story Speculation
Full spoilers follow for Creature Commandos‘first season.
Creature Commandos The story synopsis for season 2 has not been disclosed yet. It will also be a while before it is as well, so we can only speculate on where things will go from here.
For starters, things will largely depend on what happens in other DCU Chapter One movies and TV shows. With people like Superman (one of the most anticipated new films of 2025) and Peacemaker With season 2 arriving in the coming months, the events that unfold in these productions will likely impact the plot of the second season of this series.
However, one thing I’m already confident about is that Task Force M will be sent on another death-defying mission to combat a planet-wide threat. Last season, the eponymous team was initially tasked with protecting Princess Ilana from Circe, an Amazonian witch who is one of the three big connections to Wonder Woman’s eventual DCU debut. However, when it emerged that Ilana was planning to take over the world using her high-tech Pokolistani forces, Task Force M was asked to eliminate her instead, which they duly did, even though it came at the cost of Nina Mazursky’s life.
Whatever their quest, I think we’ll see more team members clashing. After all, they were brought together by circumstance – namely their incarceration at Belle Reve Penitentiary – and therefore did not willingly join forces to take on a greater enemy. With Nosferata and King Shark among the new additions to the gang, who have their own personalities, motivations, desires, fears and likely traumatic backstories, there will be plenty more melodrama and R-rated humor to enjoy next season.
It is also possible that Creature Commandos season 2 will continue to explore new parts of the DCU. The first season of the series did a remarkable job from a universe-building standpoint, with cameos from iconic DC heroes like Batman in Episode 5 and B-list DC Comics villains, the debut of the Justice League of the DCU, although in one of Circe’s premonitions, references. in famous cities like Metropolis and Gotham City, and many more Easter eggs besides. By the time Season 2 comes out, a number of DC’s most important heroes and villains will be established in Gunn and co-lead Peter Safran’s new cinematic universe, so there will be more potential for them to branch out. find in Task Force M. in Creature Commandos“next chapter.
Creature Commandos Season 2 Trailer: Is There One?
No, there won’t be for a long time. I’ll update this section once a trailer is finally released.
Will Creature Commandos season 2 have a sequel?
Nobody knows. As I said earlier, Creature Commandos was not renewed for a second season until late 2024. Until it launches, we won’t know if a third installment will also be given the green light.
Even though DC Studios announces a third season, we don’t even know when it will air. In January 2023, when Gunn revealed the full lineup for DCU Chapter One (well, complete at the time, anyway), 11 projects were confirmed to be part of this first phase of the DC Universe. Since then, three more – the second season of this show, a Dynamic duo an animated film starring iconic Robins Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, as well as a Clayface film written by Mike Flanagan – have been announced. So this is becoming an increasingly busy time for DC Studios. The fate of a third Creature Commandos entry will depend on whether there are still stories worth telling, whether they continue to be popular with viewers, and whether there is time and resources to make a another season. In short: keep your eyes open.
