A new Star Wars game set in the Old Republic era is currently in development at Arcnaut Studios and will be led by Knights of the Old Republic And Mass effect trilogy director Casey Hudson.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic was officially revealed during The Game Awards 2025 with a trailer. It is a narrative-driven, single-player action role-playing game (RPG) in which you play as a Force user on a journey across a galaxy on the brink of rebirth.
Created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, The fate of the Old Republic is not intended to be a direct sequel or continuation of BioWare’s game. KOTORand is still in the early stages of development.
While this may be the case, I am curious as to why what appears to be the Leviathan can be spotted in the caravan, an Interdictor-class cruiser commanded by Saul Karath, who served under Darth Revan, and later Darth Malak, in KOTOR.
Maybe it’s not Leviathan but just a completely different Interdictor-class Sith cruiser, or PHOTO do you have some sort of connection to Revan’s story? We’ll have to wait and see.
Speaking in an interview with Star Wars, Hudson, who co-founded Arcanaut Studios this year, said he was eager to return to the galaxy, but explained that “a project like this represents a huge commitment for everyone involved, so it took the right conditions for everything to align.”
Look on it
“Our goal is to develop the kind of games I love creating: emotionally powerful cinematic adventures, driven by player action, narrative depth and immersive world-building,” Hudson said. “Conversations between our team and Lucasfilm Games have resulted in an incredible opportunity to return to Star Wars, and once again we can’t believe we’re working on such a special project.”
Although there is no release window yet, we do know that the game will be the spiritual successor to KOTOR which “immerses players in an unforgettable experience where each decision deepens their journey towards light or darkness.”
“Work on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was one of the defining experiences of my career,” Hudson continued. “With Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republicwe’re telling a completely new and different story with everything we’ve learned since then: creating an adventure about choice, destiny and the timeless struggle between light and darkness. It’s a dream come true to collaborate with Lucasfilm Games again.”
