- macOS Tahoe 26.2 is now rolling out to Mac and MacBook
- It has a new Edge Light feature to light up your video calls
- Other minor improvements and bug fixes are also included
Alongside iOS 26.2, Apple also released the equivalent software updates for its other devices, and these updates include macOS Tahoe 26.2 – with a new Edge Light feature useful for lighting up your face during video calls on Apple Silicon Macs.
As MacRumors reports, the addition of Edge Light is the biggest change in this version. It will use your Mac’s screen “to illuminate your face like a virtual light ring when you’re on a video call in low-light conditions.” With newer Macs, introduced in 2024 and later, you can also have the light turn on automatically in low light conditions.
The feature offers customizable light width and temperature settings, so you can adjust the lighting to your liking, and when you use a mouse or trackpad, the light instantly moves back so you can see what you’re doing on screen.
We talked about this feature when the developer beta for macOS Tahoe 26.2 was released, and it looks like it could be especially handy when you’re rushing to prepare for a call and don’t have as much time as you’d like to adjust the lighting.
Minor updates and AirDrop adjustment
Other new features in macOS Tahoe 26.2 include auto-generated chapters in podcasts, embedded links to mentioned podcasts, improved filters in the Game Library, updates to in-game challenges, and support for connected controllers.
There are also plenty of bug fixes and small tweaks, as usual for a macOS update like this. Navigation has been improved in the Apple News app for example, while tables in the Freeform app are now more flexible in terms of content. A playlist of favorite songs has also been added to Top Picks in Apple Music.
Apple also says that with this update, “AirDrop Codes provide an additional layer of verification when using AirDrop with unknown contacts by providing a code on the recipient’s device that the sender must enter to complete the transfer.”
We’ll have to wait and see whether or not this breaks the AirDrop support that Google recently added to its Pixel 10 phones – but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise. The macOS Tahoe 26.2 update is now rolling out worldwide.
