The mystery surrounding the alleged kidnapping of the wife and minor daughter of a Lahore-based deputy superintendent of police ended on Saturday after police arrested the officer and he confessed to killing the two victims and filed a false kidnapping case.
According to police sources, Muhammad Usman Haider, formerly posted at DSP Investigation Kahna, admitted during interrogation that he had murdered his wife and daughter following a long domestic dispute.
Following the incident, he filed a false first information report (FIR) at the Barki police station, claiming that they had been kidnapped.

The FIR said the DSP’s wife and daughter went missing on September 27, while a written application for registration of the kidnapping case was filed on October 18.
The police started the investigation after the case was registered, while the victim’s sister also approached the authorities, expressing suspicion that Usman was involved in their disappearance.
Forensic teams recovered blood samples from the suspect’s home, including from the bed and door. The lab reports have raised fresh suspicions, prompting senior officers to confront the DSP in a high-level probe. “After receiving the results of the forensic examination, the suspect confessed to the crime,” a police officer said.
The bodies were later found in different locations. Police said the body of the girl was found in Kahna, while that of the wife was found in Sheikhupura.
Investigators revealed that both were initially buried as unidentified decedents. Police said the motive for the crime appears to be a property dispute.

The DSP had entered into two marriages and purchased a 10 marla plot of land in the name of his first wife. He then allegedly sold the land without her consent, using the proceeds for his brother’s wedding, which led to frequent altercations.
During interrogation, the suspect said he killed his wife with a sharp weapon, which has since been recovered. Police said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances of the girl’s murder and were looking into whether any enablers were involved.
A close associate of the suspect was also taken into custody for questioning, while the DSP’s second wife was included in the investigation, police sources said.
A police spokesperson said: “The accused will be prosecuted strictly on merit and punished in accordance with the law. »
