Denmark’s royal twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, celebrated their 14th birthday, the first since their father became King Frederik following the shock abdication of Queen Margrethe last year.
The royal family marked the royal twins’ 14th birthday by sharing photos on Instagram.
The stunning photos were taken on New Year’s Eve.
The message reads: “Their Royal Highnesses Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine celebrate their birthday and turn 14 today.
“Due to the anniversary, new photos of the prince and princess are being released. The birthday photos were taken on New Year’s Eve, shortly after the birthday person’s father gave his first New Year’s speech.”
Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine moved up the line of succession after their grandmother, Queen Margrethe, abdicated the throne on January 14 last year.
Queen Margrethe’s eldest son became King Frederik X, while his consort became Queen Mary.
According to the People magazine, Queen Margrethe’s abdication came as a surprise, as she had previously declared that she would reign for the rest of her life and before her, the last Danish monarch abdication was in 1146.
