A seemingly routine question on the performance of the Communications Ministry turned into a fiery debate at a Senate Standing Committee meeting, leading to a verbal tussle between Federal Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan and Senator Palwasha Khan.
The exchange, which quickly went viral on social media, took place when Senator Palwasha Khan questioned the federal minister about the ministry’s performance and a specific road project.
Minister Abdul Aleem Khan reacted angrily to the issue, accusing Senator Palwasha Khan of aligning himself with dishonest individuals. He charged, “Dishonest people from all corners of the world have gathered here,” before addressing the senator directly, threatening to denounce her actions before the committee. “How dare you talk to me like that?” » he said, raising the stakes of the confrontation.
Senator Khan, however, was not fazed by the minister’s response. She stressed that the minister’s fiery reaction was a sign of his own embarrassment over the matter. In a firm position, she asked that the committee rule on the minister’s behavior.
After the meeting, Senator Palwasha Khan addressed the media, reiterating her position and pledging to raise the issue within her party. She also urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to remove Abdul Aleem Khan from the cabinet, accusing him of using foul language.
“Corruption within the National Highway Authority is not hidden from anyone,” she added, referring to ongoing concerns about transparency within the ministry.
