ISLAMABAD:
In 2025, the Federal Police Security Division provided comprehensive security for 14 sessions of the National Assembly, 15 sessions of the Senate, three joint sessions of Parliament, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament and 969 major national and international conferences and events.
For this purpose, on several occasions, around 6,000 officers and junior staff of the Security Division, Traffic Police, Special Branch and Operational Police have been permanently deployed for security duties.
According to a police report, foolproof security was also ensured this year during the arrival and departure of 19 international VVIP delegations, including foreign cricket teams. Furthermore, to enhance the security of Chinese nationals residing in the federal capital and ensure rapid emergency response, a ‘panic alert system’ has been introduced in the control room of the Special Protection Unit.
Separate and specialized security arrangements have been put in place for major government buildings, embassies, diplomats and prominent national and international personalities in the federal capital.
Several reforms and initiatives were implemented in the Security Division in 2025. Under the “Good Luck Policy”, Naka Serena was modernized in accordance with modern security requirements to further strengthen and improve its efficiency.
An electrified fence system was activated along the entire perimeter wall of the diplomatic enclave. Additionally, modern ANPR cameras have been installed at entry points to facilitate automated vehicle identification.
Open conferences were held with embassy security officers to discuss new security reforms and address challenges facing diplomatic missions. Integrated and effective security measures have also been implemented to maintain public order in the Red Zone and the Extended Red Zone.
Following the establishment of the “Kaskade” Police Service Center, 2,652 diplomats used the services of the Federal Police during the year, while 7,044 diplomats used the services for the issuance, renewal and learner’s licenses.
In record promotions this year, Security Division officers were elevated to higher ranks and officially received their new insignias. To honor the services of Islamabad Police veterans, ‘Ghazi Week’ was observed, during which Ghazis were invited and given gifts as a token of appreciation and encouragement.
As part of the Green Pakistan campaign, tree plantation drives were carried out in the diplomatic enclave with the active participation of the police and the local community.
DIG Security Muhammad Atiq Tahir said that the Security Division of Islamabad Police is taking robust measures to provide foolproof security to diplomats, national and international delegations, important personalities and sensitive installations.
