A Detroit Lions fan was the target of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf’s ire on Sunday.
Metcalf was seen grabbing the fan’s shirt and swinging. The CBS broadcast captured the interaction between the Steelers player and the man, who was wearing a black and blue shirt and a blue wig. It was not immediately clear what led to the incident.
The man told the Detroit Free Press that he called Metcalf by his full name — DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf — and that sparked the furor.

“A little shocked. Like everyone’s talking to me. I’m a little shaken, but I just want the Lions to win, baby,” the fan, identified as Ryan Kennedy, told the newspaper.
“What, my full name is not DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf,” he added. “He doesn’t like his government name. I called him that, and then he grabbed me and tore my shirt off. I’m a little shocked. Like everyone’s talking to me. I’m a little shaken, but I just want the Lions to win, baby.”
Metcalf was not penalized in the match since CBS cameras only caught the moment by chance. The NFL told the Detroit Free Press it could not take action regarding an ejection because the incident did not occur on the field.

The fan was also reportedly allowed to stay in the stadium.
Metcalf faces a fine or suspension due to the incident.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had no real comment at the time.
“I heard about it, but I hadn’t seen it,” he said. “I didn’t have a chance to talk to DK.”

Metcalf did not meet with the media following the 29-24 victory. He had four catches for 42 yards.
