The Dallas Cowboys’ Super Bowl drought extended to 30 years when the team was eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday and then lost to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
The Cowboys showed immense heart during the season after the defense was gutted when star passer Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers. Dallas had big wins against the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, as well as a tie with the Packers.

Ultimately, the Cowboys lost their final three games and found themselves on the outside looking in for the playoffs once again. Dallas fell to 6-8-1 after the loss to Los Angeles, and team owner Jerry Jones spoke about some of the team’s shortcomings.
“I’m definitely better when I’m getting kicked than when I’m having success,” he said, via The Athletic. “I’ve seen some of the decisions I’ve made work.
“We have one team that goes to the Super Bowl every year. Two that go to these (conference championship) playoff games. I can’t wait to get back into that championship game next year and maybe beyond. And then I’ll be right at the top of the list of how long it’s been since you’ve been in one. And that’s how you do it. Right at the top. And all that will go away.”

Jones took some positivity out of the 2025 season. He acknowledged the team “underperformed,” but there were some things the team could carry over until 2026.
In particular, Jones said he was impressed with the way Dak Prescott played during the year.
Prescott has 4,175 passing yards and 28 touchdowns this season. He leads the NFL in completions (378) and pass attempts (552). George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb both eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the season.
“I’m happy with what we have in Dak, very happy for the future,” he said via the team’s website. “Nothing we’ve done so far this season gives me anything other than optimism about the future at one of the key positions, if not the key position.”
