Princess Eugenie is widely tipped to join the royal family at Sandringham this Christmas, while King Charles is urged to use the festive period to mark family unity.
The possibility comes after Eugenie and Princess Beatrice made a notable appearance at the King’s family pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace on December 16.
The outing which reignited intrigue over who will or will not attend the traditional Christmas Day church walk in Norfolk.
Although Eugenie’s presence seems increasingly likely, inside sources suggest her older sister could be heading in the opposite direction.
According to a source speaking to The SunBeatrice is set to leave the UK for a ski holiday with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
“Beatrice didn’t want to risk causing any embarrassment,” the source said, adding that she found herself caught between loyalty to the king and concern for her parents.
“That’s why she and Eugenie attended the Buckingham Palace lunch, it was a careful balancing act.”
The insider added that Beatrice remains deeply grateful for the support shown by King Charles and Prince William during what has been a turbulent time for Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
The source explained that she didn’t want it to seem like “they were snubbing anyone.”
Royal commentator Laura Windsor believes that this choice will not affect Princess Eugenie’s position in any way.
There is no reason why the 35-year-old should not receive an invite to Sandringham.
“Of course she’ll be invited,” Windsor said bluntly.
“It’s the child. It’s not his father.”
“King Charles is a role model,” she said.
According to Windsor, Christmas Day at Sandringham should be treated exactly the way it’s supposed to be.
