Donald Trump-owned media company moves 2,000 bitcoins, worth $174 million

Trump Media and Technology Group (DJT) transferred around 2,000 bitcoins worth around $174 million, via a series of wallets a day after increasing his holdings to 11,542 BTC.

The transfers routed the bitcoin to multiple addresses, with around $12 million ultimately reaching Coinbase Prime Custody, according to blockchain data tracked by CoinDesk on Arkham.

The remainder is held in other wallets that appear linked to the same entity, suggesting a reshuffling of reserves rather than a one-way move toward an exchange.

Activity alone does not signal a sale. Coinbase Prime Custody is a custody product designed for institutions, and custody transfers can reflect treasury operations such as cold storage reorganization or portfolio consolidation. Assets in custody can remain there for long periods of time without being exchanged.

The timing is notable, coming a day after blockchain tracker Lookonchain said the company had purchased 451 BTC, implying that Trump Media, the owner of social media platform Truth Social, is actively managing its Bitcoin position rather than leaving it static.

Business owners often move their assets between portfolios for operational reasons, particularly after new purchases, internal policy changes or custody transitions.

Bitcoin price showed little immediate reaction to the move. The token traded between $86,000 and $87,000 over the past 24 hours, a range that held even as broader crypto sentiment eased through the end of the year.

Traders are closely monitoring the flows and positioning themselves, with recent market action showing Bitcoin struggling to hold key psychological levels above $90,000.

The on-chain transfers also come as Trump Media’s equity has increased. Shares are up more than 30% over the past five trading days, according to Google Finance, to trade around $14.
The move coincided with a renewed focus on the company’s strategy beyond social media, including its expansion into financial products and digital assets.
